As we celebrate Breanne's fullmoon, my prayer is that my wife and I will be good parents to her to bring her up in the way of the Lord!!

I am 32 now!

Just turn 32 yesterday! Looking back I am very thankful to God for all HIS blessings and faithfulness to me! Even thought I had gone astray (many times) from Him, He has been merciful and gracious to me.

Today I am bless with a wife who loves me very much and a daughter I love very much as well.

I am also blessed with an extended family that is supportive and caring...

As well as many friends from Penang, KL, Nilai College, MCKL and etc!

300 wishes took me well over 2hours to read them and liked them all!

Some people say this is very shallow and meaningless to just wish people over FB. However I see birthdays as a chance to just catch up and to touch based with old friends!

Sometimes we need a reason just to say hello to friends we have not talked to for sometime.

For me just the effort of making that simple wish is meaningful and I appreciate all of them.

So thank you everyone who had taken that few second to wish me Happy Birthday! I appreciate it and I appreciate your friendship! (even through you needed FB to remind you)

My prayer wish is that I may be a good dad and husband and friend!

Especially to those who are counting on me now!!

Breanne Chan Hui Li is our 2nd Anniversary Present from God!

I have been too preoccupied these past few months dues to various reason. None more so then the preparing for the arrival of my daughter!

Breanne Chan Hui Li! Born on 15th August 2011, 9.38am She weight in at 3.2kg. YES! Right smack on our 2nd Anniversary!! Exactly 2 years ago Joanne and I said "I do" to each other! NO! we did not plan it!

You can't plan for such things, can you?!?!

In the beginning we wanted to give her another name. Joanne and I were thinking of names that sound nice and etc. We actually settled on a name which Joanne really liked and would not change her mind.

But one day, as I was riding my bike to work, I felt the Holy Spirit speaking to me saying did I ask God to see if the name we had chosen was the name God would like. So feeling convicted, I decided to engaged my wife in another round of debate on our daughter's name (that very night).

To my surprise she said she felt the same and that we should start afresh on choosing our daughter's name. Joanne & I actually fasted and prayed for 1 week on getting a child and not long after the fasting and prayer, Joanne got pregnant.

So we decided to do the same thing and I fasted and prayed for one week to seek God's guidance on the name of our first child.

Right after the fast, I took my old name book and flip through the pages. I felt guided to choose a name that meant Strong Grace. At first I didn't think such name exist. Joanne and I have been looking through meaning of names and have not come across such a name.

However I did find that name in the book. The name is Breanne. Bre which is short for Bridget, which means strong, and Anne which means Grace!

We choose this name for her because it is really by the grace of God that we have this Child. From my past sins to where I am now, it is only by God's grace that has brought me here. Also we hope that this child will grow in the Grace of God and be a graceful lady as well.

Strong is because is was very strong in Joanne's tummy, kicking her all the time! Hahahaha!

We also hope that she will grow to be a strong in her faith and conviction in God and to be a blessing to everyone around her.

This is our prayer for her! May God grant us the grace, strength and wisdom to be good parents the this gift of love which God has give to Joanne and me!

We just want to thanks God for His blessings in giving Joanne a very fast and smooth delivery and both mom and daughter are in great health!

We also would like to thank all those who have been praying for us throughout the delivery!

I remember once as a young medical officer, I was boycotted by operating theatre staff when I wanted stern action taken against a staff nurse who went for a kenduri when she was supposed to scrub for a surgery.

An assistant nurse had to cover up for her delinquent senior. Both the nurses – the one who had absented herself and the one suddenly forced to relieve her duty – were Malay. The young patient lying on my operating table waiting to deliver her baby was Malay too. And also Malay, the anaesthesist and other operating theatre staff who gave me the cold shoulder after I remonstrated with the matron.

I had informed Matron right away after I found the young nurse shivering in fear because she was thrown into the deep end and unprepared to assist in a surgery. If I had expected disciplinary action to be taken, I was disappointed. My colleagues who rallied around the race banner sadly failed to see that the patient (someone belonging to their own ethnic community) about to give birth deserved the best medical care.

What if it had been an emergency case where a life was at stake? Malays have to be made aware that an incompetent and one-race dominated civil service may not be beneficial to them and as the majority, they would be the ones ultimately most affected. With such experiences, you can understand why I resigned from the public health sector.

One of my Malay superiors urged me to “think about the service” but then again, if only the Malays themselves could think about how racism among civil servants has hindered their own progress.

1Malay first and foremost

Malaysia has a “huge and largely ethnic Malay civil service, completely loyal to Umno, but increasingly incompetent” that is the biggest obstacle to Prime Minister Najib Razak’s 1Malaysia. This was the view of former Economic Planning Unit deputy director-general K. Govindan, according to a leaked United States diplomatic cable.

The WikiLeaks that appeared in Malaysia Today on June 6 had the cable further quoting Govindan’s opinion that our civil service adopts “a very narrow worldview and will oppose, even refuse to implement, reforms perceived as damaging ethnic Malay interests, even if convinced of the long-run gains for Malaysia”.

Former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad has referred to the service as a “Malay administration”. He did not even bother to pass it off as a “bumiputera administration” in which case it can be claimed by the non-Muslim natives of East Malaysia. Alas, the Orang Asli indigenous to the peninsula do not even figure in the equation.

Non Malays have been gradually cleansed from the public sector with only a few remaining now in crucial and inevitable sectors such as teaching in vernacular schools. The Orang Asli have been totally excluded.

My Heartfelt Condolences to Mrs Chiu's family

Mrs. Chiu (nee Luk Tien Fen)

30 December 1954 - 7 June 2011

Mrs. Chiu nee Ms. Luk Tien Fen, a dedicated lecturer at Methodist College Kuala Lumpur, was called home to the Lord on 7 June 2011 after battling cancer. Originally from Sibu, Sarawak, Mrs. Chiu, began teaching at Methodist College Kuala Lumpur in August 1985 as an Economics lecturer.

Over the last 26 years, her guidance reached beyond the classroom as an advisor for the Christian Fellowship group, and administratively as the Head of Arts and later as Head of Panel for economics in 2007 and 2009 respectively. She passed away at the University Hospital in Petaling Jaya at around 11.30 p.m., surrounded by family and friends.

Mrs. Chiu will always be fondly remembered and dearly missed as a loving and dedicated lecturer, administrator, role model and friend to the many staff and students whose lives have been touched by this outstanding woman. Our most heartfelt condolences and prayers go out to her family, friends and dear ones as they go through this difficult time.

The wake services on 8 and 9 June 2011 at 8.30 p.m. and the funeral service on 10 June 2011 at 10.00 a.m. will be held at No.5, Gui Yuan Funeral Parlour, Jalan 229 Kampung Tunku in Section 51, Petaling Jaya.

If only it was that easy!

Who needs wives when we have prostitutes!!!

Hahahahaha!!! I just return from JB from my friends wedding.

Went I reach home my wife showed me this article on NST and the Star!

Basically it is about lady called Dr. Rohaya Mohammad, who has served with the Health Ministry for 15 years and written speeches for former ministers Dr Chua Soi Lek and Chua Jui Meng. She is the vice-president of a new club called 'Obedient Wife Club'!

According to her, "a wife must obey and serve her husband like "a first-class prostitute" to keep him from straying and to prevent greater social ills." Hahahahahahaha!!!

"You must satisfy your husband. A good wife should be a whore in bed," said 46-year-old doctor, whose husband has three other wives.

She further added that, “If the wives need our help we can train them on sexually satisfying positions."

Hahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!! I have not laugh so hard for such a long time!!!

If only it was soooooooooooooooooo easy, all the prostitute would either be out of a job or better still HAPPILY MARRIED!!!!

This Dr Rohaya said that for a man to be faithful to his wife, she must “be good in bed”!!

As a married man myself I would like to know how would I know if my wife is good in bed if I never had anything to compare with?

How would I know if she is better than a world class prostitute ah!??!

And if she is not good, does that give the husband a free pass to be unfaithful?!?!

Shocking mentality coming from a person who serve 15 years in the Health Ministry!

Maybe Chua Soi Lek should have send his wife to be train by this Dr instead of getting her to just write his speeches!!!!

What exactly is the difference between an A and an A+???!

Recently Wee Ka Siong made a good point when he commented on the Cabinet decision to reward all students who scored 8A+ and above in the SPM 2010 with a PSD scholarship. He continues to mention that parents and students should not be quick in criticising the selection process.

However recently this has been proven to be untrue as Wee Ka Siong admitted that 363 straight A+ scorers had failed to secure scholarships. Moreover, the government failed to mention what courses will be offered to student with 8A+s. This has led to disgruntled students who did not get their chosen field of study despite their “impressive” results!

One example is Selwyn Jong of Kuching who scored 9A+ but instead of a university placement, was given matriculation – a place he could have secured with 5As. Another example is P. Kugnethran from Selangor who scored 12A+. Instead of getting the medical course he so wanted, Kugnethran was offered a diploma in animal husbandry from Universiti Putra Malaysia while those with less than stellar results won choice courses at top varsities abroad.

One of the worst example I have see is Heamanthaa Padmanaban, 17-year-old from Seremban, who scored 10A+ and 1A in last year's SPM examinations and was an all-rounder in extra-curricular activities.

She qualified for cross-country runs and played hockey at state level, and was a school champion in chess and badminton. In April last year she was among those chosen to participate in the Malaysia-America Soccer Exchange programme with 12 other women.

Instead of giving her the opportunity to study medicine or biotechnology (which was her choice), PSD offered her a Diploma course in English at University Pendidikan Sultan Idris .

What makes matters worst is when you hear of unworthy recipients getting PSD scholarships. An example of this is Chai Sheng Min from SMK St Joseph in Kuching, Sarawak who obtained 10As was offered a scholarship to study engineering at Universiti Technology Petronas, however his two friends with 4As and 5As respectively were awarded scholarships to pursue science degrees in the United States.

Datuk Wee Ka Siong also mention (arrogantly), “Before you do that, make sure you understand the difference between 10As and 10A+ in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM).

This is a very good question which I the Deputy Education Minister should explain to all Malaysians!

What is the cut off mark between an A+, and an A grade? Is this cut off mark consistent for all subjects offered in the last SPM examination? If this is not the case, why!?!?

This is an extremely important issue to be clarified since the BN government has placed such great importance on the A+s with regards to the PSD Scholarship selection process.

Is rewarding the PSD scholarship solely on 8A+s a fair process? Especially when you consider the fact that there is a perception that the standard of awarding the A+ and A grades vary greatly between difference subjects in the SPM examination.

Can the Deputy Education Minister dispel this negative perception?

Why is there this negative perception in the first place? Could it be due to the fact that there has been complains that the Chinese subject in the SPM examination has questions of STPM difficulty? How about the fact that the Ministry of Education did not originally award a single A+ to any student who took Bible Knowledge last year! This is rather hard to believe, when you consider how generous the government has been with regards to awarding the As and A+s for the certain subjects in the last SPM examination.

Perhaps the single most suspicious problem is the length of time the Education Ministry took to release the SPM results!

How is it that while internationally coordinated examinations such as O Levels and A Levels takes only 1 month to release their results, it takes the Education Ministry nearly 3 full months to release the SPM results!

Why it that the Education Ministry only released the SPM results on the 23 of March 2011 when SPM markers were instructed to finish and submit their markings by the end of Dec? What was the Education Ministry doing with the marks for almost 3 months? Were they adjusting the marking curve for certain specific subjects?

Could it me that the government was adjusting the grades to please certain section of the population

Did the Education Ministry manipulate the marks and grades to ensure that only certain amount of people would get 8A+s?

Wee Ka Siong as the Deputy Education Minister needs to be open and transparent with the marking scheme of all the SPM subjects! He has to defend the integrity of the SPM grading system.

Especially after his arrogant remark to parents of last year SPM students , asking them if they know the difference between an A and an A+. The answer is NO! We don’t know the difference between an A and an A+! Please do explain it to us!

Is the cut off point for an A+ in Additional Mathematics the same as the cut off point for Moral Studies? It is not a far fetch idea that the BN government is using the PSD scholarship and the SPM results to gain political points for themselves. Or is it just a coincidence that every time a general election looming nearby, the SPM results seem to obtain an “improvement” in the statistic.

A government teacher explain to me that if the government gives out a lot of As in the SPM examination the students will be able to bring home proudly such “fantastic” results to show their parents. Thus those parents who are not aware of their child’s actual academic standards will perceived that the government is doing a good job educating their children.

This sad scenario is exactly what is happening to our country now and as a result we produce lawyers that can’t ever speak proper English (just watch the You Tube video of the Malaysian lawyer who question Dr Porntip with regards to Teoh Beng Hock case as an example).

JPA Scholarships and the SPM examination should not be used as a political tool to gain popularity and any government who is willing to sacrifice the long term future and growth of its citizens and country just to gain short term popularity has no business running this country!

In a sense the BN government is caught in a tough dilemma. If they don’t give a lot of As out, their charades of improvement in the education system will be destroyed. Now that they give a lot of As out, they are stuck with too many “qualified” SPM student but not enough PSD scholarships.

This whole SPM As and PSD scholarship has been nothing but one big public relation stunt which has failed badly for the BN government. The fact that out of the 4000 PSD scholarship given out, only 300 were given based purely on merit and over a thousand scholarship were given out on a race based selection criteria only reinforce the idea that the government is not sincere in their 1Malaysia concept and that they are colour blind!

So Deputy Education Minister Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong, please tell me what exactly is an A+ and an A? I would like to know what grade to give the BN government, or does the BN government deserve an F for running this country’s education system to the ground!

Randomness!

Last month (April) my beautiful, pregnant wife had craving for spegatti/pasta. So we went to some nice but expensive spegatti restaurant at Empire Shopping Centre, Subang Jaya. I forget the name of the restaurant but they give you free bread with olive oil .

It wasn't too bad in the end as the set had quite big portion. But it still cost around RM80 for all that. So is it expensive? The Chicken and the Tomato on the bread is nice!

Another random thing last month was me having to spend a whole week in April in the Star Office to help shortlist Scholarship candidates .

It was such a heavy responsibility and I had such a heavy heart at doing this because I there were so many very good applicants. How do I shortlist them? Most of them have 9As and above. A lot of them have very good curiculam vitae as well. Only other thing is based on needs. It was really heart ache to choose only 15 student from over 60 quality applicants (per course!)

Well the shortlist had been done and the interview had been completed and the candidates selected for the Scholarship! I just pray and hope that I have done my part proper in terms of choosing the right and worthy Scholarship candidate!

This process has given me an insight to PSD/JPA scholarship process which I will write an article on soon!!!

Amway vs God's Way

NETWORK 21 Conference at PGRM

Last weekend was an extremely long and eventful weekend. It started on Friday and Saturday night at a Network 21 (Amway) conference followed by my (Faith Christian Center) Church camp (in MBS, Rawang), which ended on Wednesday (18 May). Wow! It was definitely an extraordinary weekend as both events challenge me to commit my time and money to improve the quality of life for myself, my family and those around me! So which way is better? Amway or God’s way? I have limited time and money. So which takes priority?

First let’s examine what I have learned from the Network 21 conference! It was indeed a very interesting conference and its guest speaker was Dr Porntip from Thailand. (No! Not the same one that testified in the Teoh Beng Hock case.)

The speaker talk about having passive income and using Amway to gain financial freedom so that we and those we love can be free of the “rat race” and to be free from being a slave to our jobs!

The intention is indeed noble! Financial freedom will enable you to spend more time with your family and to help other people. She stress that this is especially important because we don’t know when we will die or when our love ones will pass away.
If I didn’t know better I thought I was in some Christian Conference! The values, theme and strategy they used are almost exactly identical with the Christian mentality.

Here are some other examples:

1. Network 21 (NW21) talks about sharing 1 (Amway) plan a day to one person.

(Wow! Can I even share the Good News to one person a day? This is better than XEE and Alpha Course put together!)

2. NW21 tells its members to share this wonderful system (which they have discovered) to their love ones so that they can help their love ones too!

(That sounds like U must share Jesus to those you love so that they can go to Heaven)

3. NW21 talks about changing your mindset and the need for your brain to unlearn and relearn things.

(The Bible in Romans talks about renewing your mind too!!)

Perhaps the most telling similarities was the quote I got from the NW21 speaker. She said that “The secret of happiness is freedom. The secret of freedom is the courage to change.”

When I got to my family camp I realize that my Camp Theme was “FREE!” (Freedom). Wow what a coincidence! Not only was the theme similar, but both the Church Camp and Network 21 speakers had a lot of similarities in their talks!!!

Now my camp speaker is a real special person from Vietnam! His name is Dr. Paul Ai. He was a former Buddhist monk turn witch doctor, turn Missionary! He has tattoo all over his body because he had attain the highest rank for witch doctor in Vietnam! He has got to be one of the most interesting person I have ever met! His faith in God is incredible and he comes across as a very humble person!(Check out his book! Incredible stories of faith!)

Paul I talk about financial freedom as well but the difference is the system. Network 21 is base on work. I.e. being discipline, setting goals, strategy and targets. However Paul I talks about faith in God and challenge us to ask about our “treasure’ (there our heart will be also).

The NW21 speaker showed us countless slides of her many travels around the world on holidays and Amway conference (and tells us how success in Amway can leads to these rewards). In camp Paul I too showed us many pictures of his travels around the world. Only that his travels were for mission work and Christian conferences and not for holiday! But both said that what they do does not feel like work to them! So what is my decision!?! I believe this is not a coincidence that I went for both events on the same week. I believe that God is showing me something! What is He showing me?!? I am not sure! However my decision for now is that it doesn't have to be either God's way or Amway. You can do both! In fact I hope this Amway may open doors to share the Gospel with other people! Already I have shared with my upline in Network21.

So I have join Amway/Network 21 because they do have very good products which I have been using since I was young and their system is a good one.

But this will not be my priority!

If God used NW21 to bless me and my family, then so be it! But my trust is in God (to provide all my needs). My investment in time and money goes to God first. Ever since I made the step of faith to come to KL to take the job in Methodist College Kuala Lumpur , He has provided all my needs and more! I can testify to His faithfulness, His generosity and His blessings!!!

I know if I seek first the kingdom of God and all His righteousness, all these things will be added to me. For my God will provide for all my needs according to His riches and glory! My heart only needs to belong to Him!

Thus I will commit my NW21 business to God and not worry about it!
And speaking of His goodness I have a testimony to share! On that Sunday I was suppose to leave for camp, I skip church to play futsal! (Yes I know! I can hear the gasp!! Oh the sinner that I am!)

Well serve me right! I got a very back knock on my big left toe. This is the toe that I broke before and have goult! Well it was bruisng very badly and went to camp all bandage and limping. But the next night during Dr Paul Ai talk, I went up for prayer and asked God for healing. Went I got back to my sit I decided to take a look at my toe. I was amaze! The brusing was nearly gone! Brusing like this usually takes a couple of weeks to heal! But this took less than 48hours! I showed my wife to see if I was imagining it and she was amazed too! This is the first time I have experience immidiate healing like this. Praise God! All honour and glory belong to Him who sits upon the throne!

I must thank Dr Paul Ai for teaching me how to pray with authority and believe! According to him, just read the Bible and shake your head and say Yes! God! Hahahahaha!!

Najib needs to be schooled in his own 1 Malaysia concept!

I seldom write on my blog now with regards to politics but recently what Najib and Chua Soi Lek said with regards to the Malaysian Chinese community really piss me off! So this is my reply to their threat!

Malaysiakini reported on the 30 of April that Najib said (with regards to the Chinese Community supporting the opposition)

"They have to choose. If they want the opposition, they must sacrifice the party in government. If they want a bigger say to serve their interests, they have to support a Barisan Nasional component party," he told reporters here after opening Pangsapuri Rakyat on Duyong island in Kuala Terengganu.

This is such a disappointing statement coming from the Prime Minister who supposedly came up with the 1 Malaysia concept. I would expect such a statement to come from an uneducated, immature and racist person but certainly not from Najib.

A mature & wise government will choose their Ministers and leaders based on their capabilities and their character. They should not select their leaders based on their race, or religion.

A truly 1 Malaysia Government would have Ministers and leaders who will look out for the interests of all race regardless of their background , race or religion!

If the leader in BN government truly practise looking out for the interest of all races regardless of their own background, then it really does not matter how many Chinese, Indian, or Malay are in Ministerial position right?

Sadly it is clear (through Najib’s own statement) that that he does not understand his own 1 Malaysia concept. It is actually not that surprising lah! Any Malaysian worth his salt knows that most BN leaders do not have the capability or mentality to take care of anybody else apart from their own kind! (not necessarily their own race either)

(An example of this is what MIC leaders said here)

But why must Chinese only take care of Chinese or Malay takes care of Malay and Indian takes care of Indian only?? Is this the true 1 Malaysia way?? Speaking as a Malaysian Chinese, I rather have good God fearing Malay to represent my interest than to have a crooked MCA Chinese representing me! I am sure that any honest Malaysian Malay would also rather have a God fearing sincere Chinese to represent them than to have a greedy UMNO Putra representative to look out for their needs!

What is important is to have qualified, capable, honest and sincere hearted leaders in the Cabinet and not be bothered by which raced, religion or colour of his skin!

Unfortunately most Malaysian knows that this is not BN’s mentality or practice. We all know that certain Government positions are reserved exclusively to certain political parties only! These people are appointed to their position because of their race and political party and not due to their performance, credential or capability. And this has made the KPI initiated by Najib a real big joke!

To prove this point, you only need to ask, has anyone outside UMNO been appointed as Deputy Prime Minister, Finance Minister, Home Minister, Defence Minister or even Education Minister in the last 30 years?

Is BN telling us that there were no leaders from all the other BN component parties (outside UMNO) capable of taking up these positions in the last 30 years? Of course this is not true. Most Malaysian knows that BN leaders choose their leaders based on their raced and political affiliation. It is a pity because that means that even if there is a brilliant Malaysian Indian Economist in MIC, that guy would never be considered for the Finance Minister’s post just because he was not from UMNO! So much for the 1 Malaysia concept!

Sadly this unhealthy culture has been passed down to the government officers and government servants as well. These have been one of the main contributing factors to the country’s brain drain!

I am sure most of us can sympathise with a person frustration when they see their colleagues who are less capable, less competent and less hard-working then them, getting a promotion to become their boss just because he/she is from a particular race or political party. Thus it is not surprising that most Malaysian don’t get the 1Malaysia concept. Maybe Najib and gang should learn and practise their own 1 Malaysia concept first before trying to teach it to the rest of Malaysia.

Najib’s statement came out in response to MCA President’s (Chua Soi Lek) recent statement who stressed that if MCA was unable to gain support from the Chinese community, then the party will reject any federal, state and local government posts.

Firstly he is simply quite arrogant to assume that MCA is the sole representative of the Chinese community!

Secondly he assumes that the Chinese community will want Chinese representative in the government just for the sake of having a Chinese representative. The Chinese community in Malaysia is mature enough to look vote in capable, honest, God fearing leaders who are qualified instead of voting in a Chinese rep base solely on his race! Someone should teach MCA to win their own election based on their own merits instead of hoping on UMNO for a free ride!

Instead of just threatening the Chinese community with lack of representation, Najib and MCA should find out the real issues why the Chinese Community are staying away from BN leaders and how they can work to win their confidence again! MCA should work for their votes instead of issuing empty threats that don’t work well with the younger Chinese generation!

In any case it make no difference to the Chinese community anymore if MCA has any representative in the government as the Chinese community have already given up on any real representation by the voiceless, powerless, rubber-stamping puppets from MCA!

Finally most Malaysian do not believe for a second that MCA would reject all Ministerial, federal, state and local government position even if they lost all their seats because they can afford to lose their only strategic strength (money and power) in politics. Most Malaysian know that MCA will not have the strength and character to reject the post as they will be too greedy to reject the government’s position offered to them. Thus all Malaysian Chinese must call Najib and Chua Soi Lek bluff and see if they will really do what they says in the next general election! I am not a betting man but on this I will bet that they will not carry out these empty threats!

One final note as a Malaysian Chinese (of voting age) in response to Najib and Chua Soi Lek’s threat! You can take your government position and representation and shove it up ******!!!!

My Day Outing on 7 April

Last 7 April I help out Scripture Union (SU) Malaysia to be a tour guide for some International SU delegates who were visiting Malaysia to help celebrate SU Malaysia 50th Anniversary.

We took them to a bunch of places. Like the King's Palace, and etc.

Not bad also lah! I got to go to some places I would not have bothered to go if I did not volunteer to help out.

Like TUGU Negara! I think I haven't been there for 20 years now!

Tony Pua visit MCKL!

Last Week I got Tony Pua to come to speak to my College students.

This is a guy who graduated from Oxford then went on to form a company that made Millions! Then went on to sell his share in the company to enter politics!!!

Wah lau!!! Some people I know will call him crazy!!!

Why would he even come back to Malaysia?!?

Why would he quit a company he form and head as CEO to enter politics!

Worst still why would he join the opposition?!?

Is he Mad?!?

He has a family with 2 young kids! Yet he joined DAP and got himself arrested and jailed and etc.

He has my utmost respect!!!

Anyway that was why I got him to come to MCKL. I wanted him to share with the students why he did what he did. Especially with regards to coming back to Malaysia to serve his Country!

He is a true patriot of which I had the privileged to meet!

I even had the chance to sit down with him and to chat with him over tea and I can tell you the this is a real genuine humble sincere guy. Very humble and smart guy. I really wish we had more politicians like him!!

Two weekends ago I went to JB for a marketing trip. It was an Education Fair in JB. I originally wanted to kill 2 birds with one stone and try to visit the JB Wesley Church as well. But unfortunately I had not managed to contact the Pastors earlier.

Because it was too late I resign myself to the fact that I would not be able to visit JB Wesley.

Hah! God had other plans already.

Originally I had a couple of staff that was suppose to come down to JB with me to help me but at the last minute all my staff and helpers could not make it. I was getting worried! I can't go down alone for such a big fair!

Thank God! One of MCKL new staff call Mr Tee Shen Ren whose is an Australian National University (High Distinction) Graduates (in Physic) said he was willing and able to help me!

I was so relieve! Little did I know that it was actually God at work!

You see, Mr Tee Shen Ren has a friend in JB who is also an ANU graduate from the Overseas Christian Fellowship and they decided to meet up on the Fri night that we reach there.

This friend of Mr Tee just happen to be related to one of the JB Wesley church leader. And because of this connection, I managed to get some time during the church service to promote MCKL to JB Wesley! Not only that Mr Tee friend's family was extremely nice and hospitable to us during my JB trip, showing us all the nice place to eat.

I never knew that JB had a lot of nice food! This works well for me because I am going down to JB with my very pregnant wife is a couple of months time.

Sometimes I am amazed at how God works even when I mess up sometimes!

Last Sunday was a bad day!

It was a very important day as I had to do a presentation in a big Education fair in KLCC.

So what happen?!?

1. My bike broke down on the way to work!

2.After I managed to get home to get my Car, found out my air-con didn't work on the way to work...again!

3. After getting there on time, (just barely on time) my power point presentation could not work!!

4. Then at the end of the day, being tired and hungry... I got the worst waiter who could not speak English or BM at all! I didn't order drinks, he brought me drinks!

What I did order (my food), he didn't order and had the guts to say I didn't order food!!!!

Made me wait for almost an hour for my food in the end!!!

5. Finally I got home and I found out that Arsenal got beaten by MU in the FA cup!!!

WHAT A DAY!!

I guess I could be cursing but actually I was not that bad! I had a lot to be thankful to God for on that day!!

1. THANK GOD! There was a bike shop near by that was open at 9am on a Sunday morning and I could get there for help!

2. THANK GOD! My air-con managed to work like normal again...somehow!

3. THANK GOD! He gave me the ability to speak well without visual aid and still capture people's attention!

4. THANK GOD there were some Christian parents in the YMCA restaurant so I had more self-control and not do anything stupid that I might have regretted later!

5.....I got nothing for the Arsenal one actually! ......Well THANK GOD! I got my wife to comfort me after feeling terrible about Arsenal losing and having a lousy day!

My Mother's Birthday is today!

I want to take this opportunity to pay a special tribute to a wonderful God-fearing mother who has been the cornerstone of my family all these years!

Her name is Dorcas Chan. She has 3 children - two older girls and a younger
boy who was always accused of getting pampered by his mother.

Yes, my mother was not the most perfect mother in the world.

In fact she has made her fair share of mistakes raising her children.

But she was a mother who has always put her children's needs before herself and never once did she say things like "do you know how much I have sacrificed for you" to her children.

She would babysit other children for extra income and every cent of it would be
used to buy the best vitamins, books and food for her children. Not once
did she set aside anything for her own benefit while we were growing up.

Everything she did was with the best intention for us. Her faithfulness to
pray for her children is still unwavering till this very day.
The thought of writing this tribute to my Mother came up when I had a
conversation with my sister recently. She is considering sending her 1st
child to a more English-speaking primary school instead of a Chinese school.
One of her many reasons were the fact the she knows that she will have a
terrible time teaching her son Chinese. She foresees a lot of shouting,
crying, frustration, spending late nights making sure he finishes his
Chinese homework and etc. I gave her a lot of reasons why it is still good
to go to a Chinese school but one thing I forgot to tell her was that
raising a child will not always be a walk in the park. I know I don't have
my own child yet and I can just hear my sister saying that "it is easy to
talk now but wait till you get your own child". Yes I cannot speak from my
experience of raising my own child but I can definitely speak from my
experience of being a very difficult child.

I remember days when my Mom would force me to play the piano, learn my
spelling and Chinese. Those were very frustrating days for my mother and I.
I hated it back then but looking back I am glad my mother did all she could
to make sure I had every opportunity she could give me no matter how hard it
was for her. I even remember some nights where she would breakdown and cry
out of her frustration and love for me.

You see, growing up I was a very thin, short geeky looking, playful kid with a
very short attention span. I didn't like to read books with words, I didn't
do my home work and I was lousy in sports and music. I could not even
wash my own behind for the longest time.

Despite all this, my mother has always been proud of me. She has always
given me her best and she has never shown me that she was disappointed with
me.

This was much to the annoyance of my sister who used to say that our mother
was being bias towards me. You see my sister was always the smarter one,
the more disciplined and the more independent one. She is very artistic, she
could draw and she was pretty. She always had the attention of boys and was
always getting 1st or 2nd in class. She had a lot of leadership positions in
school, played the piano, the violin, a bit of guitar, and even the harp.

She had 9A1s in SPM and got into UM to study Dentistry.

In spite of all this she could not understand why our mother paid more
attention to me and gave me more help. It made her wonder why our mother
was bias towards me. What she didn't know was that I used to wonder the same
thing about why God was being bias towards my sister. I now realize that it
was not that our Mother was bias towards me, it was the fact that she saw
that I needed more care and love to grow.

As a result of this, I grew in confidence and self-believe in spite of my
lack of intellectual achievement or talents. Because she was proud of me
no matter how I fared in school or sports, I became brave to try out new
things. Because she was so encouraging, I was not afraid to fail and thus
gain new skills and talents I never knew I had. She gave me the confidence to
face the world no matter what by sending to me Scripture Union Camps and
through joining the Boys' Brigade. She made me feel secure to come to her
for anything even though I messed up or did something wrong. Yes, she did
discipline me when I was wrong but never once did she show her
disappointment to me. She taught me to trust in God and to always seek Him
for guidance and strength. And even though I did fall away from God many
times in my life, it was her unfailing prayers for me that has kept me safe
and brought me back to God every time.

And now that I am all grown up, I realize that although God didn't give
me those gifts that He has blessed my sister with, He was preparing me
to receive another type of gift. This is the gift of empathy. As a result of
my childhood experience, I can now identify with youths that are not the
most talented or gifted among their peers. I understand how they feel - their
insecurities and their feelings that they have been short-changed by God in
this life. God has now given me a purpose and placed me in Methodist College
Kuala Lumpur. In the mists of all the very bright, intelligent and talented students
that are going to Oxford, Cambridge, and other Ivy leagues Universities from
Methodist College Kuala Lumpur, I sometimes find a student who feels the way
I used to feel. And because of my own experience I can empathise with them
and show them the love, encouragement and hope I had received from my
mother.

But all these would not have been possible if not for my mother's
unconditional and unwavering love for me. I am who I am today thanks to her!
I am indeed blessed to have a mother like her and I pray that I will make
her proud by being a blessing to my own family and to others around me.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!

Lightning AttacK!

Yesterday my home was struck by lighting! It fried my TV, Fan, lights, and etc.

Was a bit upset at first. But on reflection I thank God for His protection. It could have been so much worse. Many of my other electrical appliance were not affected.

When I consider the sufferings of people in ChristChurch, Libya, Tunisia and etc. I must learn to be thankful and to praise God in all circumstances.

So this is my testimony that I thank God for His protection on my home!

Anyway I think GOd is trying to tell me not to watch too much TV!

By A Concerned Mother

When one picks up a history book, one would expect to read a fair account of events as they actually happened in the past. Definitely, one would expect the most accurate record possible of history as it unfolded through the decades, written as objectively as possible.

A most reasonable expectation indeed when the book in question is a major textbook prescribed by our Education Ministry for our students nationwide. A book that is instrumental in shaping the young minds of our future generation.

The issue takes even greater prominence when the content of that book is going to decide whether our students pass or fail in a major exam on which their future hinges.

Lay hold of the Form 4 history textbook that our children are compelled to digest. Read it for yourself. Take a good hard look while the storm is brewing in the teacup. And it is brewing for good reason. Be shocked at what the syllabus writers have managed to quietly incorporate into our school syllabus just a few years ago, unnoticed by most people, even parents of affected students.

This is no typical history textbook. Simply because the syllabus writers have not confined its content to history. Instead they have extended its boundaries seemingly to push a certain agenda. In the process, our history textbooks seems to have taken on a quest of its own - to win the hearts and minds of our children for that particular agenda. We have to take note that all 4 writers of the textbook comes from only one race and religion, without representation from other faiths and races.

(I wonder if this is what Najib really mean by 1 Malaysia?!)

I write as a concerned mother who cares about what my children are being fed in school. I write as a troubled citizen who cares about the younger generation that will one day helm the nation. I write based on my own personal review of the Form 4 history textbook and this review is based on the hard facts of the content of the textbook, without any intention to offend any religion, its prophet or believers. I will leave the review on the accuracy of the history to historians, who are already speaking out on the historical errors and distortions contained.

The first fact to note is the overwhelming proportion of the Form 4 history textbook being devoted to Islamic civilization (100 PAGES) while the other religious civilizations are barely given a passing mention (460 WORDS).

Out of 10 chapters, 5 bulky chapters are devoted to Islamic history and civilization, which constitutes at least half a year’s study. This certainly is a disproportionate emphasis on one religion, to the exclusion of all other religious civilizations.

Most of us would not mind our children understanding more about Islamic civilization. But it has to presented fairly accurately within a balanced perspective. Do we want to mislead our children to believe that there is only one important civilization in the entire history of the human race and the rest are insignificant? Are the other major civilizations not worth studying in equal if not greater depth?

Giving our children a correct and broad worldview can only benefit our nation in the context of a globalized world. Otherwise, our nation will be producing people with an extremely narrow worldview and an incomplete and distorted view of world history. That is to our own loss.

Secondly, this history textbook seems to seek to influence the young minds of our children who come from various faiths, to follow the prophet of one particular religion. There is a detailed study of the life of the prophet Muhammad (pg 102 – 107). He is repeatedly praised throughout the chapters. Students are then repeatedly exhorted throughout the book, to emulate him as a ROLE MODEL in life (pg 106, 111, 124, 133, 137, 138).

We respect the Muslim belief in the greatness of their prophet. However, we have to respectfully suggest (with no offense intended whatsoever to the prophet) that teachings that encourage students to follow any prophet would more properly belong to a religious class meant for students who already subscribed to that particular faith. It has no proper place in a major history textbook for students of other faiths.

In a plural society like ours, the religious sensitivities of other faiths must surely be respected.

Thirdly, throughout the pages of the textbook, history seems to have been written from a religiously biased viewpoint. Other religions seems to be cast in an unfavourable light. Consider some statements found in the textbook:-
(1) Islam is described as a religion easily acceptable and not confined to any race, nation or geography (pg 185).
(2) Islam can be accepted by many people because of the purity of its teaching (pg 110).
(3) The uniqueness of Islam resulted in many people embracing the religion (pg162, 163, 185).
(4) The conversion of some Arab leaders to Islam in 629 AD is described as “an act done after rational investigation into the truth of Islam” (pg 133).
(5) Islamic social policies are described as so attractive that European Christians converted to Islam during the Byzantize era (pg 163).
(6) Islam requires rational thinking and therefore is accepted by all levels of society. (pg 185).
Sadly, biased religious viewpoints are being unfairly shoved onto our children as established facts within the framework of a narrow religious perspective.

Fourthly, the history textbook itself dwells on the teachings of the religion. Whilst the children have to study Islamic concepts (pg 185), no space is given to a balanced comparison with the teachings of other religions. Our youth are therefore taught the virtues of one religion to the exclusion of others. Why not have a balanced approach and allow our children to learn the basic tenets of all major world religions?

Allow them to engage in comparative studies. Will it not be healthier to promote better understanding among the races which has positive effect on nation building?

Fifthly, the textbook also promotes Syariah law as suitable and practical for a multi racial nation. It cites the example of the success of the multi racial community in Madinah governed by the Madinah Charter. The formation of an Islamic government in Madinah is stated to thus prove that Islam can be practiced in a wholesome daily living and should be emulated by the Malaysian society. Syariah law is hailed as just, complete and perfect, and can be followed by all communities (pg 128).

There is mention of social justice under Islam (pg 128); equal treatment to all people under Islam (pg 110, 128); purity of the struggles of Islam (pg 112); fairness, integrity, consideration and generosity of Islamic economic principles (pg 128).

Perhaps the fifth ground raises the most questions and rings loudest the alarm bells. It makes us wonder why our school history syllabus is written in a way that seems to be condition the minds of our youth to accept Syariah laws as the basis of our legal system in the future? Is there a deliberate political and/or religious agenda at play?

Our Education Minister owes us an explanation. We want to know why our school curriculum has been allowed to be written from such a religious slant by a group of writers of only one religious background. We want to know the reason for this sudden but quiet change in the school syllabus a few years ago. We want to know why our children are compelled to disproportionately focus and digest so much on one religion without a balanced perspective of others?

We must demand for an immediate and urgent revamp and re-writing of the entire history curriculum for our schools and universities. There should be a panel of qualified historians from all races and faiths working reviewing the syllabus. Feedback must be obtained from the public. We must insist that politics and religious indoctrination be strictly kept out of our textbooks.

History should be what it is – an objective and accurate record of past events. We must no longer allow our school syllabus to be hijacked for political and religious propoganda. Until then, it is unacceptable to even think that History should be made a compulsory pass subject in SPM.

My Raya, Birthday Blessing!

Over the Raya Holidays, I spend the time up in Cameron Highlands with my Methodist College Kuala Lumpur College students along with my wife. It was also during my birthday and actually I was reluctant to go cause it was a 4 day 3 night CF camp and I wanted to spend it on myself cause public holiday to rest are hard to come by.

However I was told that if the CF Camp does not have a MCKL Full time staff going with them, then the MCKL CF cannot go for camp!

So I agree to go with them. The CF Committee made my wife the camp nurse and I was the "official photographer".

I must say that my wife and I has been blessed by going to the camp!

We see God working in the lives of these young people.

This group of CF members are one of the most passionate groups I have seen for some time.

The difference is that I see them praying very hard!

And the fruits of their labour?!?

4 of their friends accept Christ at camp!

and 1 more the next Monday!

I am bless to be able to see such love for God among so many young people in this day and age!

I hope they will be a blessing to their other friends who has not know their saviour yet!!

I have also been bless by God cause Joanne and I took time out from Camp to go back to

our favorite T Cafe in Cameron Highlands. We ordered our favorite dishes.

The owner said that she almost close the cafe early cause it was so busy that day but felt that God ask her to keep it open a little longer. And because of that we managed

to be her last customer.

Actually we cannot even be considered her customer cause she gave us the meal on the house!

She said she felt that God told her to give us a t

reat!

I guess I have God to thank for my birthday treat!! Praise God!

Racist Principals: Bless those who persecute you!

20 August 2010: Over the last 2 weeks there has been some racial tension created by a couple of secondary school principals from opposite ends of peninsular Malaysia.

The first on was from a principal in Kulai, Johor who had openly made racial slurs against her pupils by asking the "Chinese students to go back to China", and likening the Hindu prayer bracelet to a dog leash.

In her speech during the launch of the school's Merdeka celebration, she had also "reminded" the non-Malay students of their place in the country.

She had also allegedly given an example of owning a Proton Saga and then letting 'Munusamy' and 'Chong' in as passengers.

"Munusamy and Chong were only passengers. They cannot claim any right to the car. This is the same as Malaysia in which the non-Malay students are passengers," alleged a 16-year-old student in his police report on what she had said.

This was the remark allegedly made by SMK Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra principal Siti Inshah Mansor.

The second incident is from Sekolah Menegah Kebangsaan Bukit Selambau. The principal was reported to have allegedly told off several non-Muslim students to "balik negara asal China" at a national school in Bukit Selambau, Sungai Petani.

According to the report the school cafeteria had closed for the fasting month and non-Muslim students were left to their own devices to find food.

But the sight of a group of them having breakfast at the canteen - a common area - had apparently raised the principal's ire.

Later, at the school assembly, the principal was alleged to have said that the Chinese students - comprising 10 percent of the student population of 780 - had been disrespectful and that "they should go back to China".

It was claimed that when the assembly was over, another teacher approached the Chinese students to say sarcastically that they should take an AirAsia flight, since the fares were cheap now.

Not surprisingly these incidents were met with outrage from not just the non-Muslim parents of these schools, but also from many peace-loving Malaysian as well. As a result of these racial incidents, many sections of the Malaysian community have demanded various stern actions to be taken against these principals. These have range from sacking these principals to even imprisonment. However one must asked, how should we, (as Malaysian) react to these unfortunate incidents?

Thought I am not against the idea that tough action to be taken against these principals, we must consider if this course of action is effective in solving the problem of racism among teacher and principals of government schools?

We must as the question: when we punished these “principals”, will it help them change their attitude towards the other races? Or will it only create more hatred and contempt among the offenders and the offenders’ close family and friends?

Can the fear of punishment really triumph over racial intolerance or are we merely covering up this “wound” with a simple plaster.

I believe we cannot fight fire with fire. We cannot use punishment and fear to win over these principals. All we will do is to create more hatred and resentment in them.

Love covers over a multitude of sins! A soft answer turns away wrath; but a hash word stirs up anger. These are proverbs which we must turn to when we consider how best to face these racial abuse! We need to turn the other cheek when we are spat upon!

It is not an easy thing to do! And that is why we must commend highly those who did not over react during the cow-head incident and the church burning incident. We must break this vicious cycle of racisms and the only way to do it is to love those who hate you.

Then hopefully they will see the error of their ways and be a shame at their actions.

The other issue however is also to ask the question; how does a racist teacher rise through the ranks to become a principal of a secondary school?

Or how does a teacher/principal turn racist? How or who evaluated these teachers and promoted them to become heads of government schools.

We must look carefully at their training and the appraisal system of the Ministry of Education.

This is where I believe the Ministry of Education and Biro Tata Negara must bear some responsibility for these racial incidents.

A person does not usually become a racist overnight. A person perception and values are usually molded over the year through his/her education, training, family or religious influences.

Thus one must ask the question to the Ministry of Education and Biro Tata Negara on what steps have they taken to promote the unity of this country to the public school teachers and principal. Or have the actually been the real culprits in influencing the teacher to become racist bigots in the hopes that they in turn will influence their young charges to be racist as well.

Thus while we must love back those who are racist against us but we must also question and challenge the system in which these principals were trained to become racist in the first place in order to stamp out future racist incidents in our Malaysian schools.

1st Mile Stone in hopefully a very long and wonderful marriage!

Exactly 1 year ago, Joanne and I committed ourselves to each other in front of all our family and friends!

We would like to give thanks and praise to God for all His protection, blessing and provision upon our lives. This past year has been really wonderful. Though we needed to adjust our own personel habits, interests, and lives, the trade off has really been worth it!

It's not that we do not fight or argue or etc, but by putting God in the middle of our relationship, we have managed to overcome the obstacle in front of us...so far.

And it is our hope that we will continue to enjoy many wonderful years to come...by God's grace and mercy!
This was the present Joanne and I got for each other. Being practical people that we are, we decided to buy 1 gift that both of us would use and enjoy!
And I must say that taking beautiful pictures like this is certainly worth it!
We decided to treat ourselves to a nice but extremely expensive Japanese Buffet at the Grand Dorsett! (cost RM85++ per pax)
Joanne really enjoyed herself!
I must admit that the food there was nice!
And I did enjoy myself pigging out for the first time in a very long while!
My fav dish has to be the Butter Garlic Crabs!
The teriyakki chicken is also very nice
The Cod Fish was good too.
And the sashimi was fresh!
I had Paul the octopus!!
Too bad Joanne didn't like it too much!
We definitely try our best to eat our money's worth

Oh and the fried dumplings were nice too!
The dessert was not great though!

Too bad they didn't have Unagi cause they say that lunch is cheaper than dinner so things like Unagi is only for Dinner. (I think Dinner is something like RM98++ per pax)

Anyway I am glad to spend the rest of my life with this beautiful lady!

Thank God for giving her to me!

The Education Ministry has been urged to quickly resolve the ban imposed on the formation of non-Muslim religious societies in national schools once and for all.

"This is not an isolated issue. The matter is getting worse. Schools in Penang as well are facing this problem," MCA central committee member Loh Seng Kok told a press conference in Kuala Lumpur today.

He said the situation was made known to him by various religious society representatives who had received complaints on the matter.

The state Education Department was aware of the matter, he said, adding not only Pakatan Rakyat states were affected but also BN-ruled states.

"Why can't the matter be resolved as quickly, as was done at Klang High School?" he asked.

Loh also called for fairer treatment by including non-Muslim associations in the co-curricular activities listed in the co-curriculum management guidelines issued to schools.

"As for now, only Islamic religious societies are listed in the guidelines," he said.

He also called for a stop to conflicting interpretations and decisions that went against the co-curriculum implementation policy.

The issue was brought to light when an English tabloid earlier this month reported the closure of Klang High School's Buddhist, Hindu and Christian associations.

Content of ministry circular 'misunderstood'

Certain quarters have argued that this was a misunderstanding of the circular Bil.20/2000 issued by the Education Ministry in 2000, which said all school societies must be registered with the state education departments.

On July 13, it was reported that Deputy Education Minister Wee Ka Siong claimed that the Klang High School administration had misinterpreted the content of the circular.

The circular stated that non-Muslim religious societies formed before the year 2000 did not have to be dissolved.

However, Loh (left) argued that all societies, regardless of the year in which they were formed, should be given fair and equal treatment.

"This issue is very serious, to the extent that some teachers have been transferred to other schools because they were active in Christian fellowship activities in their schools," said a now retired teacher who had been in the field for about 30 years.

The teacher, who did not want to be named, claimed that no reason was given for the transfers.

"In 1998, I personally received a directive from my former superior to cease all Christian fellowship activities in the school. When I asked for a reason, I wasn't given one," she added.

Also present were Young Buddhist Association of Malaysia vice-president Loh Yit Phing, Subang Jaya Buddhist Association president Chim Siew Choon, MCA Religious Affairs deputy chief Raymond Low and Christian Federation of Malaysia executive secretary Tan Kong Beng.

Last Thursday (27May 2010) The Star reported that Malaysia will be bankrupt by 2019 if it does not cut subsidies and rein in borrowings, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Idris Jala on Thursday.

BUT!!!

3 days later Our Prime Minister says that Malaysia can be a developed nation by 2020, if the country registers a continuous six per cent annual growth.

Oh wow! This means that our Country will be a develop, bankrupt nation in 10 years time!

To be fair to the PM, he did say that...

"To achieve this goal, we need to enhance economic growth. We must achieve the six per cent annual growth and God willing, by 2020, we can achieve the status of a developed nation,” he said at the closing ceremony of the Bumiputera Economic Congress: New Economic Model 2010, here yesterday.

I wonder what Najib means by "developed nation"?

Instead of just looking at the GDP figures, the govt should actually look at things such as...

1. Distribution of wealth
2. Quality of Education
3. Standard/Quality of Living
4. Government Department Service Standard.
5. Medical Care
6. Minimum Wage rate
7. Welfare Support
8. Freedom of Religion/Speech
9. Cost of living
10. Quality of basic utilities and services (such as roads, telekom/TM, and etc.)

And so much more!!

Lets be honest! If the PM were to evaluate a develop nation status base on those requirements, I don't think we are anywhere near develop status!!

I think the scary question should be what happen to all our money??

Malaysia is a very bless country with a lot of natural resource such as petroleum, rubber, tin, oil palm, and etc!

BUT!

Idris Jala reported that Malaysia's debt has increased steadily from RM 90 bill in 1997 to over 407 in 2010

That's RM317billion in 13 years!

This means that the government has spend and average of RM24.35billion more than their income every year for the past 13 years!!!

I wonder what was Malaysia's income figures like over the past 13 years!
Was that during an economic boom period??

Oh man! And now the govt wants us normal Malaysian to pay for their mistakes!

I guess what makes me most mad at is when I read reports like...
1. Auditor General reported that the govt paid RM5700 for a CAR JACK worth RM50!

2. Or our PM spending 3.7billion on a submarine. (that does not work!)

3. Or our PM simply promising people money with out proper consultation or budgeting!

4. Or the new Istana negara worth RM1.1billion

5. How our politician have looted Malaysia or RM100billion!

May God have mercy upon us and remove all corrupt government leaders from their position!!

A night out with Juwita Suwito

Last Saturday night my wife and I was helping out at the Stedfast Association KL 15th Anniversary Dinner at Bukid Jalil Golf and Country Club.

First time we went back there since out wedding dinner almost a year ago!
And Ironically I was in a suit again playing the guitar!!
And YES! I did sing the same song to my wife during the sound check!
(Oh my Darling you've rescued me, from a life of loneliness!...)

Joanne was there to help Juwita Suwito sell her CDs! She was our guest star, entertaining us that night! I must say I think she is even better than this year's American Idol finalist!
Juwita, her mom and my parents go way back! Both our dad's were Methodist Church Pastors!
I admire Juwita's humility even through they have found fame and success in her singing career!

1st thing she told me when we met that night was that she was doing some cleaning and found and old YLDP Camp handbook and found out that she, me and Jaclyn Victor were in the same camp together and that we were in the same group.

So anyway Joanne's was busy helping Juwita sell her CDs while Juwita sign autographs.

Later Juwita was very sweet to give one of her flower bouquet that was given to her to Joanne.

Needless to say I was very naughty, and wanted the flowers all to myself!!! Hehehehehe!!!

Joanne and I would like to thank Juwita for the flowers and we would like to wish her and her mom all the success and blessing of God upon their lives!

She is indeed a very talented local artist that deserve our support!

I don't really want to blog about politics here, but my feelings on this issue is so strong that I cannot ignore it.

As a Christian with my roots in the Methodist Church I feel strongly that I have an obligation to highlight this issue to all my friends and family!

So what is the issue?
It was reported in Malaysia Insiders that “special grants” of RM1.75 million were given to four Methodist churches on the eve of polling day.

While some Christian may say that it is ok to take the money as long as you vote for the opposition after that. After all it is our money (from taxes) in the first place.

I strongly believe that we should set an example to show that the Methodist Church cannot be bought or accept any money that may be construe as a bribe.

Whole Malaysia is watching us!

Muslim, Hindu, Buddist and etc are all watching!

Most importantly God is watching!
I would like to have a word with our Bishop on this issue the first opportunity I get!

We must not let the good name of Methodist be tarnish by this issue!

While I am on this topic, I just want to shoot MCA for saying that DAP played dirty by bring up sensitive issue to the Sibu buy-election (NO! I did not misspelled buy-election)

1. Pot calling the kettle black! MCA, (using their Star newspaper) tried to scare the Chinese votes with the PAS Islamic state agenda!

2. Those "sensitive" issue are really relevant to the Christian community and ignoring this issue only makes it worst! Especially issues on Malay Bible being seized by the Home Ministry!

3. Speaking of playing dirty, I think the dirtiest player here is non-other than our very own Prime Minister! Just watch his speech below and come to a conclusion yourself on who is playing dirty!

Our Second Honey Moon!

Joanne and I just had our "second Honeymoon" at Legend International Water Homes in PD.
We got some special package for this hotel last year during the Matta Fair so we decided to use it before the voucher expires.

I must say that this is an interesting concept for a hotel.

The main attraction was of course your personal indoor swimming pool!
(They even have swimming pool on the upstairs rooms)
The pool is right next to the bedroom and the extremely huge bathroom
The bedroom itself is also very nice and big.

IT HAS 2 KING size bed! So actually it was kind of big for
just the two of us!This place is actually very nice for families with at least 2 kids or a guy with his 3 wives!

There are good things and lousy things about this hotel!

First the good things!

I love the beds and the deco of the room!

Oh! and they have a lot of Astro channels (including Disney Channel)

The bathroom here is huge and nice!

They even give you a full complimentary range of toiletries

There is also a kitchen here which is a good thing cause the food sold here in their restaurant is ridiculously expensive!

This brings me to the bad part!

This indoor pool is over rated! It is not big enough to swim in it (only 4 feet deep). It is vert cold and does not even have jacuzzi in it. Young kids will enjoy splashing water in it or maybe bring your toy boat or rubber ducky to float in it but for adults....there is nothing much you can do in it! So again, it is a nice place if you have kids or 3 wives to entertain!

Outside the room is the swimming pool area. Very nice to see but that was about it for us!

The whole swimming pool was only 4 FEET deep!!

How to swim in 4 feet deep pool???

I was actually quite annoyed that all the facilities are chargeable!

Ok charging RM10 per hour for the bicycle was ok but they also charge RM10 for the use of their very tiny gym and lousy ping-pong bats and plastic children's ping-pong ball was totally unreasonable!So again, this is a nice place to bring your kids but you got to remember to bring your own ping-pong bats, balls and etc.

(at least the playground was free! but it was for 12 years and below)

They should have an our door gym!

Oh and remember to bring food that can be microwave cause the restaurant here is unreasonably expensive.

Since we didn't know and didn't bring any food, we decided to go to town to have dinner!

Not knowing what to eat, we ended up in Secret Recipe

For to take picture until after eating all the food.

Funny thing about eating there was that somehow our bill came exactly to RM40.00 and that entitled me to a free piece of cake! Cool!

So having nothing to do here in Legend Int Water Homes, Joanne and I just went jogging around the place and took pictures and the rest of our time we stayed in the room sleeping and watching TV!

Nonetheless it was a great weekend having to do nothing except spending time with my wife and worry about nothing else!

I thank God for His provision and blessing that I am able to spend a short holiday like this with my wife!

19-21st Match 2010
Venue: Sandakan and Kota Kinabalu, Sabah
Mr Terry (Director of Early Childhood Studies) and I arrive at Sandakan on a Thursday evening (18 March 2010). I had been extremely busy with the March intake and to be honest this is my least prepared outstation trips I ever had. I even had doubts on whether or not I had confirmed MCKL’s place in the education fair.

My biggest worry was that I still had not managed to contact anyone from any Kota Kinabalu Methodist Church. You see I extended my stay in Kota Kinabalu till Sunday in the hope of visiting a Methodist Church. I had to give up the Facon Education fair in Tawau but even when I had reach Sandakan, I still had no plans or permission to visit any Methodist Church in KK.

Of course I prayed and committed this trip to God. Indeed I have seen His hands working in ways I could never have planned for. All praise and glory be unto HIM!

Firstly when Mr Terry and I arrived at Sandakan airport, we called a parent of one of our MCKL students. It was just a courtesy call to tell her that we were in town. However she was very gracious and hospitable and she offered to fetch us from the airport. Her name is Ms Margaret and she really went the extra mile to fetch us as well as to take us for a very nice supper (to try one of their local delicacies) before taking us to our hotel.

We had a good time chatting with Ms Margaret about the College and she told us about how happy and at peace she was at sending her daughter (Vicky) all the way to MCKL. Praise God for gracious and very nice MCKL parents all over Malaysia.
The next day we had our Education fair and things went on smoothly. I had to make a special video for the fair but despite some setbacks I was able to finish it just before the fair and Praise God for that because the video became very useful to showcase MCKL and its brand new facilities to the students in Sandakan.
We were also quite satisfied (with the fair) as we had a couple of serious enquiries as well as the opportunity to sow some seeds to the current form 5 students there. We didn’t get a chance to really see Sandakan but I did have a good chat with the taxi driver about the real living conditions in Sandakan (but that’s for another story).

At the Airport leaving for Kota Kinabalu, Mr Terry and I found a couple of souvenir shops that sold very nice souvenirs for very, very, very reasonable prices! Praise God that I found the perfect gift for my wife. It was exactly what I was hoping to get for her!

Things went smoothly at Kota Kinabalu and on Saturday morning I finally got a call back from Rev Peter Woo from Agape Methodist Church. I ask him if it would be alright to visit his church the next day and to set up a booth as well as to speak to the church members about MCKL. Praise God (despite the last minute request) he agreed.

This was my biggest relieve of the trip as I would have felt very guilty if I had extended my stay in KK and not had a chance to visit a Methodist Church in KK.
At the education fair we met Mr Teh from JM Education.

We chatted a bit after the fair and he graciously offered to send us back to our Hotel and to wait for us in order to fetch Mr Terry and me to the Filipino Market. Praise God for friendly good Samaritans in KK.
Unfortunately most shops were closed at the Filipino Market but Mr Terry and I still had a good time walking around the area. One thing that I am sad about is to see the Filipino kids running around with absolute no form of education and possibility a rather bleak future.
I guess the timing of my trip is very appropriate, as I am about to shave my head bald in support for World Vision’s Operation Botak. This is a fund raising campaign to help kids in Sabah with illiteracy.

Mr Terry and I later decided to walk back to our Hotel (Tang Dynasty Park Hotel) from the Filipino Market. It was not near at all and truth be told, we didn’t even know the way. Praise God for His guidance and protection! It was about a half hour walk but we made it back to the Hotel and I later realise that we despite not knowing the way, we managed to find the shortest route back to our hotel.

That night I had a last minute inspiration to modify my marketing Video for the next’s day presentation at Agape Methodist Church. I worked till 3am that night to complete the video not knowing if I had a chance to play it during the church service. Praise God for the strength and endurance to work on the video despite being very sleep deprive.

The next day when Mr Terry and I visited Agape Methodist Church, I knew right away that God indeed wanted me to be here. By God’s providence, we came on their Youth Sunday (held once a year). Wow! I could not have timed it better if I had to plan the trip myself. This was not the first time I have experience this. Last year when I visited Kuching, I managed to visit Kuching Methodist Church during their BB and GB Sunday!

I also got to use my video and it turn out to be very appropriate for the event. Praise God!
After the service at Agape Methodist Church, I had another inspiration to visit the other Methodist Church in KK. (Specifically Shern En Methodist and Inanam Methodist Church) This was because the members in Agape Methodist Church told me that those were the biggest Methodist Church in KK and that I should have gone there as well.

Praise God I had befriended a taxi driver earlier and he was very kind to drive us around looking for the Churches and even to wait for us as we went in to speak to the Pastors there. To top it all off the charge us a reasonable price for taking up so much of his time.

Praise God as well that the pastors from Shern En and Inanam were still around and we had a good chat with them as well as to pass our brochures to them.Overall this has been a very good and productive trip. I really saw the hand of God working and giving me a helping hand when I needed it the most. His providence in sending the right person to help me at the exact right time is nothing short of miraculous. So I just want to give Him all the praise, honour and glory for a very good trip to Sandakan and Kota Kinabalu!

My only regret was not taking the pictures of all those how had help me along the way. May God Bless them!

I have been very very busy with the Jan 2010 intake for Methodist College Kuala Lumpur!
Praise God for the first time in histoy of the College, we have had so many students that we actually had to turn away some student who registered late. (Actually we just ask them to come back in March intake)

Inspiration! From God?!?

While driving this morning I was in deep thought and had this inspired message that came to me. I believe it is from God. So I want share this!

Let me start by saying that I am one of the most un-Christian like drivers I know. I have very little patience and I can get mad at people on the road.

Perhaps that is why God sent me to stay and work in KL.

Perhaps that is why I have to drive at least 1 hour every day to get to work.

Perhaps that is why I am sent to work in a traffic jam crazy place like Brickfields!

Perhaps God is trying to teach me something.

Hmmm.. Perhaps!

Malaysian are the Nicest People......

Till they get behind the wheel!

Correct?!?!

Malaysian Drivers are rude, inconsiderate, unethical, reckless and etc.

(and I am not much different also lah)

So are Malaysian Christian Drivers any better or different?!?

I have heard even Pastors and Christian confessing that they rather not put Christian Car stickers at the back of their car for fear of being a bad testimony to others!

BUT is that the right attitude to have?

Are we not effectively denying God in our driving lives?

It is like saying that "I am a Christian! But my Car is a Sinner!"

How can we then expect God to protect us in our driving and our cars when we don't even acknowledge Him while we drive?

Just like evangelising and sharing God with other.

One of the reason why we dare not share our faith with others, is because we are afraid that we ourselves are not good Christian example for our non-Christian friends.

But is that a good enough reason not to share Christian with other?

On the contrary, we need to share Christ with everyone and through the sharing of the word, we will have to force ourselves to always keep watch over our own actions!

This should be the same in our driving as well.

We should get lots and lots of Car Stickers and place it all around our Car to tell everybody around us that we are Christians!

This should force us to drive in a more polite and graceful manner because we know that others are watching us and we dare not bring shame to Jesus!

In fact I have an idea for a car sticker that says...

HONK once if I drive like Jesus!

HONK twice if I drive like the Devil!

Just think!

If this becomes a huge movement with all the Christian around Malaysia , this could become the single largest evangelistic movement in Malaysia! People will really know the Jesus makes a difference!

Then if the other religion see this good example and because they not wanting to lose out also follow suit... Soon we could change an entire generation of driving culture in Malaysia!

I have faith this will work... but I dunno where to start....probably by me changing my own driving habits. I can't do it by myself! I pray that the Holy Spirits will help me in that area!

In the mean time I am gonna do is to look for a Christian Car Stickers!

My Trip to Fraser's Hill last weekend

Went to Fraser's Hill last weekend to bring my college's student for an Alpha Course Camp.

YES! I went alone again without my wife. What to do she got work.

I do miss her but it was just 2 days 1 night camp and I got to go take pictures again. This one nice ah?!?

Ms Leow (MCKL's future Director of Academic Studies), Ms Moey and I took turns conducting the Alpha Course.

The course can be quite interesting with activities in between to make it more fun and interactive for the students.

Ms Moey and Ms Leow were great in their sessions. With over 30 years of experience teaching, it was a learning experience just watching them in action!

However we still had some blur students! (Kidding!)

Then came my turn! And I was nervous! How do I match these Giants of Faith and Experience in Teaching the word of God?!? .... The Answer!

You can't match them! So don't even try! Just do your own stuff like dressing your students like a clown so that they can relate better with you!! Hahahahaha!!
But serisously this were a really great bunch of students! Some of the rededicated their lives to the Lord and to serve Him!

I got to pray for them in an alter call like session.

Its been a long time since I did anything even close to that.

I am happy I had a chance to serve God and to make a difference in the lives of young people.

I know I am committed in so many things and have been travelling every other weekend. So I am very thankful for a very understanding wife that support and understand what I do. Even through some people complain to her that I am always gone over the weekends, she defends what I do.

TO all the Christian guys out there!!

I think I am getting better at using DSLR to take pictures!!

Yesterday went to my sister's place to take pictures of her kids, needed the pictures for my Diploma in Early Childhood Education brochures and etc.

Methodist College KL is a small college and you got to do everything here.

So I am the Marketing Manager, the photographer, web page master, the corp communication officer, the counsellor and etc lah.

But that's just great! Cause then I have to learn everything lah!

And lately I have to learn about photography.

Its great when you get good pictures!

It helps when your subjects are fun, cute, adorable and cooperative!!

I like this but Priscilla's head is cut off!

My Trip to Singapore last week!

Last, last weekend I went to Singapore for the 2nd Stedfast Regional Fellowship Games.
Joanne couldn't come along cause she could not get off work.

Left on Fri and took the Second link into Singapore, which was quite fast and hassle free!

When we reach our accommodation, we were pleasantly surprise to have a bag-piper greeting us.

We stayed in the Girls Brigade HQ.

It has very nice, simple hostel.

As soon as we got settled down our very generous, nice host (Stedfast Singapore) took us on a double-decker, open bus tour.

This is my first time seating in such a tour.

Thank goodness I took my SLR camera with me to shoot some pictures!

The Stedfast Singapore Members took us for a tour of Singapore City!

It has been a long time since I visited Singapore and I found that Singapore (as expected) is very well developed and clean. But also I like that they managed to keep a lot of their old buildings!

We went around Little India as well because it was the eve or Deepavali and the tour guide thought it would be interesting for us to see Little India at its busiest time.

This is a new monument in Singapore. It looks like 2 pairs of chop sticks. It represents the 4 main races in Singapore.

This is the site where they are busy building the new casino! Genting Highlands gonna die liao lah!

The sunset view was nice to watch as well.

We pass by Carrie Underwood free concert! (at orchard road!)

Wanted to ask the bus drive to stop! But too bad lah!

One thing about Singapore is that they are a bit too liberal liao lah.

But I wouldn't want to cheat in Singapore lah!Next to the Adult Planet the have this sign! Wah Lau! Talk about strategic location!

Later the bus drop us off at a place call Clarke.

And then we hope on a boat for a night boat cruise!

The view from the boat was great! The river is now very clean. How I wish Klang river, or Sungai Pinang was like this!

The KL Stedfast team!

To top it all off, the Stedfast Singapore members took us to a very very posh and nice restaurant for dinner/supper.

We had their famous chili crabs!

Also got some other sea food stuff that I dunno what it is but it was good!

Later we took the MRT back to GB HQ!

Actually I found that Singapore has a lot of trees and parks as well.

The next day (Sat) we went to this Christian School for our games. Forget the name of the school liao!

The hospitality of the Stedfast Members were really really good!

Good food was always plentlyful!! This was lunch!

Our youngest but most exciting member from KL!

Again the Stedfast Singapore members fed us very well for dinner!

I loved the Cheese rice!

This is my Dad's Senior in Seminary College many years ago!

On Sunday we went to Payar Lebar Methodist Church.

It has been 20 years since I have been to that church!

Wah they tore it down and completely rebuild the church!

And it is a beautiful church!!

Really nice!!

Made me think about moving to Singapore!

On the way back I called my wife and talk to her about my trip!

She told me that she has always wanted to stay in Singapore because it is so nice, orderly, clean, and etc.

The thought of coming here and applying for PR did cross my mind too. But considering we just bought a house for over RM200k in Sunway. A similar house in Singapore will cost almost 1million Singapore $!!

After thinking about it Joanne and I decided that we are not going to spend the rest of our lives chasing a better life here on earth!

If by God's grace and blessing, He place us in a nice place like Singapore or Australia, then so be it. But if He place us in a Terrible Traffic Jam City like KL then we will ask God for our purpose and job that we need to do there.

We will invest our time and energy for better rewards in Heaven and not on earth!

My Trip to Sibu

Visit Sibu last week! Its been 14 years since I have been there. To tell you the truth, I don't think much has change.

There are some nicer decorations there now....

But a lot of the old buildings are still the same... (Not the hotel I stayed in ah!)

I was there for some school and church visit. But the first day I was free, so my colleague and I went to the Central Market.
There we ate the Kom Pia (a local delicacy found only in Sibu and Setiawan)

But in Sibu, they really know how to commercialize it!
Look more like Dunkin Kom Pia!!

Later we walk around Sibu town and I found the church I went to 14 years ago!

Masland Methodist Church! Wow! It still looks very nice and new!

They even have a centre call Hoover Centre which is like a convention centre/YMCA hostel thingy.

This place look like a 5 star hotel but the locals told me it cost only RM70.00 a night! Wah lau! My 3 star hotel cost me RM145 per night!

Well at least my hotel gave us complimentary drinks at their bar.

Actually the drinks only look nice. It was non-alcoholic (but super, crazy sweet) drink.

At least I got some entertainment at the pool and dart room.

Next day visited a couple of schools. One of which was SMK Methodist, Sibu!

This is a very, very nice school!!

Has a lot of smart students and the place is very well kept!

It even has very nice orkid
Later that evening I went to their pasar malam!

I was so jealous lah!!! Pork all over the place!!!

They also sold this fruit all over town! Too bad I didn't had time to find out!After that I walk around town and took some pictures!

Actually Sibu is a very small town and this was probably the most brightest place in town.

As I mention, this town has not change much!

I thought this type of movie theatre was extinct already

Next day visit another Education Fair and there some of the students took us to eat some local food! This was great because I am not too good at looking for local food.

If it was up to me alone I would have end up eating every day at their Sugar Bun Restaurant!

Anyway the students took me to a local place where I had some Peanut Shaved Ice thingy!

My colleague had Yam Shaved Ice thingy.
It was really really good!! Till now I still crave more it lah!
Also had something call "Wanton". This too was very very nice!

Wanted second helpings but scared wife scold!

The next day on a Sunday, I visited Wesley Methodist Sibu. They had kids EE that week!

This place is really a Methodist Town!!

Finally took the chance again to walk around Sibu town.

This is Sang Yang building. Biggest shopping mall in Sibu. I think it is the only shopping mall in Sibu....But sell mostly IT stuff and a lot of illegal DVDs!

That evening I flew to Miri on this small plane. I remember the old plane I took to Sibu from Kuching years ago. Thank God this plane was much better this time!
At Miri , one of MCKL former student (Harry) took us out for dinner. He is a local and knows his way around!

Sibu has a lot of cheap and good food. Miri is not bad either. My colleague ordered this very nice and big lamb shank for only RM15.00

And he really enjoyed himself!While dumb people like me ordered Sweet and Sour Fish Rice!

At least the fish was good lah!
Next day went for another Education fair in Miri and came straight home!

Thank God for journey mercy! After 5 days I really really miss my wife!!!

The Honeymoon!

I have been meaning to blog about this for sometime now but had no time. Thank God for Raya holidays!
Originally we plan to go to Pangkor for the honeymoon. Other ideas include Bukit Tinggi and Redang.

But we are very happy with where we ended up!

Praise God for His guidance and for sending the right people (Ah Ling)to help us when we needed it!

Thus right after the wedding we went to Cameron Highlands for our honeymoon!

Book a hotel room at Strawberry Park.
Got the Ramadan offer at RM160 per night.

We choose this place because we like nature, it is not far too far away and it is peaceful and has plenty of fresh air!

Also it was a very cost effective honeymoon! I think we spend about RM500 for the whole thing!

The hotel room is very nice and comfortable!!But we can't spend the whole day in the hotel room, so we did go visit the usual places like the Tea plantation....

A cool strawberry farm that makes all these wonderful dessert!And my secret cafe! I always visit this nice little cosy cafe when I am in Cameron Highlands!

They are not very good at advertising so if you don't look really hard for it, you will probably not find this place.

I use to come here alone (i mean as a single guy). But I am so glad to be able to share this with my wife!

They serve very nice scones, strawberry cheese cake and apple pie!

I like their warm strawberry tea too!

But what really got Joanne was the chicken pie! Joanne said it was the best chicken pie she has ever had!

She is not exactly a crazy for food person but she finish her meal, she "pa pao"/bungkus another 8 MORE TO GO!!!!

Wah Lau! Never seen her so crazy for chicken pie before! Actually she brought it back for our parents to enjoy.

Come to think about it...I never got to eat the bunkus chicken pie back in KL!

Anyway we are glad we choose Cameron Highlands for our very nice, cosy and inexpensive honeymoon!

The other part of the honeymoon story is censored! But the picture below will give some clues lah!

The BIG 30!

I am 30 today!

But there will be no big celebrations or etc!
I had my big bash already last month!

And it was the best party ever!

This year is a simple celebration!
Just with family!

I have the best present I could ever have already!

Now it is only a time for reflection!

I am not proud of my past. (and I am not talking about achievements and successes by the world's standard)

I could not care less if I never travel the world, or buy a big house and car or have a PHD as a title.

(no offence intended to anyone with these things)

However what I regret the most is wasting my early years (20-30years old) on being so self indulgent. Me! Me! Me! I! I! I!

Self gratification was my theme over the last 10 years!

My selfishness almost destroyed my life and would have brought hurt and shame to the people that are closest to me!

So I am extremely grateful to God for being so gracious and merciful to me.

I will not be where I am today if not for His love and grace. He has given me a second chance!

I have lived in the wildnerness for the last 10 years! It is time to return to God!

I hope and pray that the next 10 years of my life God will use Joanne and I to be a blessing to our love ones and to all those around us!!

I CANNOT BE NEUTRAL ABOUT ISSUES OF MORALITY

This is an Article by Goh Keat Peng.

This is a challenge to all Christian to read this and act!

As a Christian, I cannot keep to my seat, or shut my mouth and stay neutral over issues of morality.
So I emerge today from my several months of silence and non-involvement to say that what transpired yesterday is immoral, unacceptable and unconscionable.

Why was a witness being held for questioning for ten hours and only released at 3.45am? What kind of case is it and what is the urgency of the case in question that the witness had to be deprived of sleep and forcibly kept awake till 3.45am?

Was the nation deemed to be in grave danger had the witness in question been sent home at a respectable time and asked to report again for questioning the next morning?

The nation could endure long years of waiting over so many other much longer pending cases involving so much more public money and have much greater weight in public interest but this particular case could not wait for the next morning when the witness in question would have been fresher and better rested?

What kind of interrogation was he subjected to on the fateful night without end? Why was it that a witness had to be isolated from his lawyer and forced to be in the sole company of officers with no other neutral person/s present?

Because he was in the sole company of officers who were interrogating him, how would his side of the story be ever told?

And how would, why should the officers in question be trusted when they tell the nation what actually transpired during that fateful night the witness lost his life? T

here were no other witness/es present so how would these officers in question clear their own involvement or clear their own names in this sad story?

Isn’t it true that a medical doctor should carry out the examination of a patient of the opposite sex in the presence of at least one other person?

This is a wise procedure so that should any allegation of wrongful conduct be raised against him or her, the doctor would have some neutral testimony to defend him or her.

There have been too many instances of contravention against natural justice in this country involving the agencies and instruments of state. There have been too many victims. The neutrality of these instruments of state is questionable.

I CANNOT REMAIN NEUTRAL ABOUT ISSUES OF MORALITY.
This is not about partisan politics. I expect my friends from both sides of the parliamentary divide to speak up. I expect to hear from all political parties and all who hold public office at all levels to speak up. I want especially to hear from Maximus Ongkili, Bernard Dompok, Lee Hwa Beng, Loh Seng Kok who publicly profess the Christian Faith to speak up.

I expect the churches and the church leadership to speak up including those I know personally such as Hwa Yung, Ng Moon Hing and many others.

Of course all of the above persons should state their own views and even fault my manner of speaking or reasoning. But silence is not an option. Leaders do not have the option of keeping their opinion to themselves. They must lend their voices to voices which have been silenced.

A young life has been lost on the very eve of his wedding. Siblings, parents, colleagues and a fiance are in inconsolable grief.

WHY SO? WHO WILL BE NEXT?

I promise my fiancee I would not blog about politics on this blog, but this has gone BEYOND POLITICS!

Teoh Beng Hock, who was working as the political secretary to Selangor state executive councillor Ean Yong Hean Wah.
He was last seen at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Selangor office - located on the 14th floor of the building - where he was brought in for questioning over investigations into alleged misappropriation of funds by his boss.

He was getting married..... Just like me!

I can tell you this! No matter what problems I face, I would never kill myself and leave my fiancee to grieve like this!

NO WAY!!
My deepest condolences to his fiancee Sue Sue Quay, a school teacher. I feel your pain!

Selangor CPO Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar said tonight the authorities had classified the death of Teoh Beng Hock as sudden death and do not see any evidence of foul play so far. “So far the police do not see any suspicious circumstances in this case .."

WHAT no evidence woh!! If the Police canno see any suspicious circumstances... then the police are BLIND!!!!

HERE ARE THE SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES!!

1. WHY DID MACC QUESTION TEOH FROM 5pm to 3.45am!! 11 HOURS OF QUESTIONING A WITNESS AH!!!

2. WHY MACC CANNOT WORK DURING NORMAL HOURS!?!? 3.45am!!

Is that the best time to torture someone without witness is it?!?!

3. WHY DID MACC NOT ALLOWED TEOH A LEGAL COUNSEL DURING THE INTERROGATION?

4. WHY WAS HIS PANTS TORN!?!?

5. WHY WAS THE FIANCEE NOT ALLOWED TO SEE THE BODY?

6. WHY DID THE POLICE TAKE 9 HOURS TO REMOVE THE BODY!!!??

And then the BIGGEST IDIOT Minister in the PM's Office, Mohd Nazri said...

"Then he should have gone home (instead)....and how would we know that he would jump out of the building?" the de facto law minister added.

Nazri also said that since the circumstances surrounding the death remain unclear, Pakatan Rakyat should not jump to conclusions.

1. This IDIOT ask PKR not to jump to conclusion, but he has already jumped to conclusion by saying that Teoh Beng Hock had jumped from the building!

2. After being interrogated for 11HOURS! and only released at 3.45am!! Is it unreasonable to want to rest first before going home!!!

THIS MOHD IS AN IDIOT!!! IDIOT!!! IDIOT!!! IDIOT!!!

After this incident, I am taking the news about the MACC staff beating up a suspect more seriously!

Our Trip to JPN!

Last Thu we finally went to Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara to register.

PJ has a branch and it cost only RM30.

But you can only be registered for marriage every Tue and Wed!

The officer told us the reason for this is because Mon and Thu is for divorce!

And they don't do work on Fri!

Typical Govt Office lah!

Can go to Shah Alam and Putrajaya to do it from Mon - Fri but we too lazy to go so far.

There is also a guy call Lim Kok Sai that has the license to do it 7 days a week, even on public holidays but he charges RM150.00

So nm lah! We just do it in JPN lah!

Wah now I expert on this! Next time who want to get married can call me for advise!

Since this year I have found out a lot of my friends are getting into photography!

Some of them are getting very good at it!
(Tairven, Benjamin, John Kit, Xian Jin, Raynor, and KJ just to name a few!)

I thank God some of them are coming to help me take our wedding pictures (for free! Hehehe!)

I however (to be honest) dun know anything about cameras! But as the marketing manager of Methodist College KL, I don't have a choice but to take pictures when the need calls for it!

Anyway last Sat I had fun "pretending" to be the official photographer for Conference of Christian School in Malaysia.This was held in St John Institution in KL! Dunno why they could not find a better photographer!

But it was fun pretending to be one of the photographers!
And then the Guest of Honour came!

It was none other than Prime Minister Najib along with Tan Sri Benard Dompok and YB Wee!

I think my pictures were ok lah!

Not bad right!!

1 fun thing I realise I got to do was to catch PM Najib in a funny pose! Like this one!

Joanne Turns 22!

Last Sunday was Joanne's birthday!

Happy Birthday Darling!

She is finally 22!

Her Dad belanja the whole family at some Chinese Restaurant and her Mom bought her a very nice cake!

Yummy!!

There were many people who sent her well wishes through Facebook, e-mail and SMS.

On behalf of Joanne, she thanks all her friends and family for the well wishes!

Wedding Invitation!

Our Wedding Invitation cards are finally out...
But I think we underestimate how many friends Joanne and I have...plus our parent's have!

Thank God for the Internet, Facebook and E-Card!
I personally prefer the E-Invitation cause I put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into it myself.

Anyway, Joanne and I have been busy scrambling to get all the invitations out!
Our older family and friends who are not so tech savvy will surely prefer the "physical" card.

But I am glad the younger generations are more open to E-Invitation. It is actually more efficient and I get faster response than the normal cards.

We hope that we will not miss out on anyone!
But if we do....our most sincere apologies! It is not our intention to forget any one of our friends. But we are humans too and having so much to think about at this time, I do sincerely hope that if we miss out on anyone of our friends, that they will be understanding enough to remind us.

Most Important Contract of our Life!

Last Monday Joanne and I went to the Assistant's Registrar house to collect the form to get married.

No we are not getting married that soon!

It is in August and we will register in August but we want to get the things ready and know what is the procedure.

There are a lot of things to get ready for a wedding and we want to get as many things done as soon as possible.

Although we have a lot of friends who want to help, and I would like them to help but a lot of things has to be done by ourselves because it is our decision.

Planning a wedding as a couple is actually a very good exercise to do together. We have learn more about each other. What we like and don't like, how to negotiate and compromise with each other, how to deal with the stress and anxiety together.

And hopefully thought this we become stronger as one in our marriage!

However we still need a lot of help from our friends and family!

So let me start first by thanking

Priscilla for the Ring pillow and borrowing your kids!

Tairven, Benjamin and Jason for the prewedding photos,

Yvonne for agreeing to be my main coordinator during the wedding,

Jeff for agreeing to being my bestman and Soo Teng for being the bridemade,

My Weekend Trip to Sarawak?!

I always wondered why the land of the hornbill has a Kuching for its main city?!?!? Would not the Kuching eat the bird?!?

Anyway I was in Kuching, Sarawak last weekend. I followed my CEO, Ms Moey to the Teacher Christian Fellowship Conference and Dinner. She was the official Speaker and I was there to promote Methodist College KL!

The TCF paid for her accommodation only so I had to look for a cheaper alternative and so one of the TCF committee member book for me a room in this hotel.

Looks a little bit shabby but what do you expect for RM65 a night.
The room was quite ok lah! Spacious and has own attached bathroom with air con and hot water.

TV was hopeless but I had no time to watch TV anyway!

Managed to walk around the bazaar area to do a little bit of window shopping as soon as I arrive in Kuching.

This Sarawak assembly is suppose to cost RM200 million. The local says that it actually cost RM100million and the other RM100million went to somewhere else!

I must say Sarawak has some unique infrastructure!

In the evening I got to meet up with my old friend, colleague, housemate, and church member! Mui Fan! Too bad she cannot make it for my wedding. So... feeling bad, she belanja me makan! hahahahaha!!

First time I had pork satay! Not bad!! Don't even need the gravy! Also had some dessert called "Matahorn". It was good to taste some local food there.

Next day (Sat), early morning I had to go to ACS for the TCF conference. I think it is amazing how the churches here can come together to build a centre for everyone!

At night we had the TCF Dinner at Sarawak Club!

It is a very nice club with a lot of heritage! Just too bad it went up in flames a couple of years back!

All they had left was some stuff they put on display.

Good thing they build in back very nicely!

I had a good time at dinner. The food was nice and I got to seat at the VIP dinner!

During the dinner I got caught unprepared to say a few words about the college. But I thank God for my gift of the gab and had no problems giving a short speech!

Ms Moey was up next and she really inspired all the younger teachers there!

The next day (Sun) I went to Trinity Methodist Kuching.

It is a huge church!

It even has its own bookshop! Mind you the bookshop is not small!

Neither is the Church Sanctuary!

I had to go for 2 services!!(8am and 10.30am) I was given an opportunity to talk to the whole congregation. Made me a bit nervous cause there were so many people. But it was a good Sunday to talk to the Church cause it was Girls Brigade enrolment service and I had the attention of over 60 girls there! So it was a very productive trip!

Finally, a Sarawakian Education Agent took me to eat some Ko Long Mee (Sarawak style). Not bad! But it us too bad I didn't had more time to go sight seeing or travel more in Kuching. Actually not that I couldn't, but I now don't feel right going on holiday without my Joanne!

Our Church

This is Faith Christian Centre.

This is the church where our wedding will be and this is the church we are currently attending and committed to. It is an Anglican Church. I can just hear people saying now. Why are you attending a Anglican Church when you are originally from a Methodist background and Joanne is from a AOG background.

Well the reason is that we are not to particular which denomination we go to as long as..,

1. Their doctrines are sound.

2. Their leaders are spiritually, dynamic, humble and zealous in serving God.

3. The Church is really making a difference in the community.

4. Etc.

But also practicality also plays a role.

This Church is next to where Joanne work and in her line of work, this helps a lot!

Also we have a good relationship with the senior pastor there already.

(went thought marriage counselling course with him...TWICE SOME MORE!)

However to be honest I do miss the fellowship and friends in my previous churches in Trinity Methodist Penang, Ampang Gospel Centre and Rumah Methodist Nilai.

Couple of weekends ago, I had to to for a Church Leaders Training at my current church (Faith Christian Centre)

During that training I had a chance to see another wedding that was held there! I thought it would be good to take some pictures of the place to show our friends and family where our wedding was gonna be!

I think the church can cater for about 400 people... but dunno got that many people coming or not actually!

Overall this is a nice place for a wedding and I think it would be more special when all our friends, family and love ones fill the whole sanctuary

Less then 4 more months before the music starts!
